Resources for Emergency Preparedness:
The Department of Homeland Security's Website, www.ready.gov, is a succinct online guide with clear instructions and information primarily about potential terrorist attacks.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's Website, www.fema.gov/areyouready, is long but complete and informative about all potential hazards.

The American Red Cross New York chapter, www.nyredcross.org, provides preparedness information as well as ways to volunteer and train in CPR and first aid.

In addition to other information, the New York City Office of Emergency Management's Emergency Management Online Locator is a database through which you can locate your closest hurricane shelter or heat wave cooling center.
